Volunteering

Parent Volunteers

All families are expected to volunteer. Parents will be asked to help with smaller jobs as needed, such as baking items for bake sales, bringing bottled water and snacks for students for football games and competitions and driving students to events that do not require buses. 

Opportunities for volunteering are in the following areas:

  • Contact newspapers and radio stations regarding upcoming large events such as the Car Wash, Jazz Festival, Swing Dance, etc.
Car Wash Fundraiser

  • Make signs, print tickets, and advertise the event
  • Make volunteer schedule and supervise student volunteers
  • Sell/Collect tickets during the car wash

  • Make arrangements and schedule with Goleta Borders
  • Organize student volunteers and make sure all the shifts are covered
  • Collect money at the end of each day
Jazz Festival Fundraiser early

  • Arange for Airbus transportation
  • Make and distribute information forms for students
  • Collect money for trip
  • Chaperone a small group of students at Disneyland (chaperones do not pay for bus rides nor for admissions to Disneyland)

  • Print tickets, advertise, and take tickets at the event
Awards Dinner early June 4 people
  • Order pins, awards and letters for students
  • Make arrangement for setup and teardown
  • Coordinate End of Year Slideshow
Uniform Fittings and Distribution August and May 8 people
  • Help fit each marching band student with a uniform
  • Help sort and prepare returning uniforms for distribution in the fall
Pit Parent for Football Games and Marching Band competitions Fall and Spring 12 people
  • Haul pit equipment on and off the football field for games and competition
  • Help load and unload equipment on/off truck
  • About 4-6 parents needed for each event
Truck Driver for Football Games and competition Fall and Spring 4 people
  • Drive band equipment truck to and from football games, marching band competitions, drumline competitions and winter guard competitions
  • Only one driver needed per event
Web Site Maintenance Year long 2 people
  • Update website with information from the band, orchestra, jazz band, color guard and drumline programs
Auditor Biannually 1 person
  • Audit financial records twice a year (Jul-Dec and Jan-June)
  • Write a report of the audit to the Band Booster President and Treasurer

     Students are expected to participate in fundraising at all of the following events:
